Jesus’ ministry to the sick was important to him. We find in the scriptures that many people brought the sick to Jesus and he would heal the infirmed person and fully restore them to the community, removing the barrier and loneliness that can come with illness.
The Anointing of the Sick is a powerful sacrament that is not only for the dying. Nor is the celebration an indication that one is in imminent danger of death. It is truly a sacrament of healing, not to be put off until we are so ill that physical or psychological healing is impossible.

Dealing with the pain of losing a loved one is a difficult thing, but the Catholic funeral liturgy and traditions offer great comfort when confronting the death of a loved one. The celebration of the death is an important experience of Christian life and how we can show our respect for the dignity of the human person. “Though separated from the living, the dead are still at one with the community of believers on earth and benefit from their prayers and intercessions.”
We understand that this time may be a difficult one for you. For assistance in making funeral arrangements, please call the parish office at 602-942-5555.
