Andino, Carmelina

 Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Carmelina, 77, passed away with her family by her side, April 14, 2010. She was born in 1932 in Valencia, Venezuela. Carmelina married Luis Andino and moved to the United States specifically, Chicago, Illinois, in 1960. She then moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1979. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered. Carmelina is preceded in passing by her husband Luis, who passed away in September of 2009. Carmelina is survived by her children, Carmen Alicia, Gloria (Jerry), Nancy (Bill), Jackie (Steve), Luis Jr., grandchildren Robert, Kris, Steven, Derek, Veronica, Tony, Gina, and Angelique; and her great-grandchild, Seraphina. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 18, 2010, from 7:15-9:00 P.M. at St. Jerome Catholic Church (10815 N. 35th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ). A Funeral Mass will also be held at the church on Monday, April 19, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. Entombment will follow at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to A.L. Banhart, John "Jack"
91 of Queen Creek, AZ, passed away on April 8, 2010. Jack was born in Pittsburg, Kansas. He served in the Army in World War II. He moved to AZ 45 years ago and worked for the railroad for many years. He was a loving father and Grandpa and will be deeply missed. He is survived by his son, Kenneth Banhart (Teresa); granddaughters, Stacey Dawson and Stephanie Banhart; great grandchildren, Alec Dawson, Kalie Dawson, and Kendra Dawson; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at 10am at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 10815 N. 35th Ave., Phoenix. Interment Resthaven Park Cemetery, Glendale. "Grandpa", 90 of Phoenix, AZ went home to meet our Lord on Saturday, March 13, 2010. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Eva, daughter Irene Newbury (in spirit Danny), son Ernie (Sandra), granddaughter Evie Puckett (Matt), grandson Ezekiel (Elena), step-grandchildren Jed Ranney & Mike Mistretta (Jessica), great grandchildren Mia & Ean Puckett, Isaac & Aaliyah Gonzales, and grand dog, Rebel, sisters Nettie, Carmen, and Patsy, as well as many nieces and nephews. Ernest was a quiet and loving man with a great sense of humor, who worked hard to provide a wonderful life for the family he loved so much. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, camping and working with his hands. He loved watching baseball and playing a good hand of poker. He and Eva traveled extensively throughout their life together, along with their family, taking many cruises and trips to Disneyland. He was a WWII Army Veteran who was proud to have served his country. Ernest "Grandpa" will be forever missed by those he has left behind, but we all look forward to seeing him again when we also arrive home. Services will be held Monday, March 22, 2010 at St. Jerome Roman Catholic Church Parish, 10815 N. 35th Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85029. A Memorial Picture Presentation will start at 9:30 A.M., Memorial Mass at 10:00 A.M., followed by a lunch at 11:00 A.M. Burial of his ashes will be held at the Veterans National Memorial Cemetery, 23029, N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85024 at 2:00 P.M.

Donald Shaufer, 73, of Phoenix died Sunday, March 14, 2010. He was born November 8, 1939 in Chicago, IL to the late Francis and Josephine (Kujawa) Shoufer. He is the husband of Jean M. (DiGiacomo) Shaufer. Donald is a veteran of the United States Air Force. For 28 years he worked for the city of Phoenix Parks retiring as a supervisor in 2001. We were blessed to have him for eight extra years after his 2002 heart transplant. In addition to his wife, Jean, he is survived by a son, Gregory J. Shaufer and a daughter, Maria K. Pansera; a sister, Evelyn Cummings and four brothers, Carl Shoufer, Leonard Shoufer, Frank Shoufer and Paul Shoufer. Also surviving are four granddaughters, Shealynn Shaufer, Natasha Stewart, Samantha Shaufer & Isabella Shaufer and two great grandchildren, Andrew Blanchard & Madalyn Warfel. Donald was predeceased by a granddaughter, Breanna Stewart. A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 18, 2010 from 6-8PM at the Heritage Funeral Chapel, 6830 W. Thunderbird Road, Peoria. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 19, 2010 at 8AM at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 10815 N. 35th Avenue, Phoenix. Greg Munoz, born July 31, 1973, passed away on February 28, 2010. Greg graduated from Northern Arizona University in 1999 with a degree in Biology, with a secondary education emphasis and a minor in Chemistry. While at NAU, Greg was a recipient of the NAU Louie Award (excellence in student achievements), Pan-American Golf Association scholarship, nominated employee of the year (1997) at NAU, active member of LULAC, MECHA, core member of B of A Minority Leadership program, and northern Arizona regional representative member for Arizona Association for Chicanos in Higher Education (AACHE). He has taught at various schools throughout the valley and at Cibecue community school, White Mountain Apache reservation. Many of you have enjoyed his ramblings about his knowledge of all the native plants in Arizona and sharing that information with anyone that would listen. He would also discuss various types of rocks found in Arizona and even talked about all the sites he has taken his brother-in-law over the last two years. Greg was also an advocate for the Hydrocephalus Association and a Multiple Sclerosis Society activist. He will leave a very large void in the hearts of his loving family. He is survived by his loving parents, Leo and Teresa; sister, Teri Lynn (Bob) Furchak; grandmother, Natalia Munoz; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. A visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Chapel, 6830 W. Thunderbird Rd., Peoria, on Wednesday, March 10 from 6:00-9:00 PM, with a rosary service at 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 10815 N. 35th Ave., Phoenix , on Thursday, March 11 at 10:00 AM, with burial to follow at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Glendale.

Inez is survived by her 5 children, Sons, Richard Mazon, Arnold Mazon Jr. (Norma), David Mazon, Kenney Mazon (Dina), Daughter Zelda Moraga (Raymond), 11 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren. Inez was a very loving, caring and generous Mother, Mother in law, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister and Aunt. Inez has touched many people and will live on forever in our hearts! Don retired from ADOT as an electrical engineer after 30 years of service. Don is survived by his loving wife Marie E. of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on Feb 23,2010. Although he was born in Flagstaff, Ariz. he lived most of his 52 years in Phoenix. John is survived by his Father Alvaro Lopez and Mother Carmen Mazon- Lopez, two children, Tony Lopez and wife Terra from Phoenix and Candice Marie Lopez from Spring, Texas, 2 sisters, Deene Eckles and Terry Kelley; 2 Nieces and 1 nephew among numerous other relatives. John Graduated from Moon Valley High School also attended several Trade schools. He worked in road construction both in Texas and Arizona, loving the bridge building aspect most of all. Most recently he had been working as a Truck Driver. A funeral service will be held Friday Feb. 26, 2010 at St. Jeromes Catholic Church at 10:30 AM, 10815 N 35th Ave. Phoenix, Arizona.

79, of Phoenix, AZ passed away on February 7, 2010. She and her family moved to Phoenix, AZ in August of 1965. She founded, along with her son, Anderson Auto in 1982. She courageously battled cancer in the last decade of her life. She is preceded in death by her son Joseph. She is survived by her brother Jim, seven children, Denise (Lee) Wilson, Laura Anderson (Tom), Ronnie (Terri), Jane (Jeff) Dunn, Michael, Chris, and Sally (Ty) Lang, eleven grandchildren, Lee, Edward, Melissa, Britne, Josh, James, Julie, Holly, Jackie, Justin Mindy and two great grandchildren Angie and Ian. A mass will be held Wednesday Feb 11 at St. Jerome's Catholic Church, 10815 N. 35th Ave in Phoenix at 1:00 PM, with a memorial slide show a half hour prior. Contributions in Ina's name would be appreciated towards Hospice of the Valley for the care provided by their angels.

On October 1, 1926, she was born in L'Anse, Michigan to the late Thomas & Diana (Morin) Hubbard. Surviving in addition to her husband are 2 daughters, Diane Ball & Therese Smith; a son, James Fuchs; and a brother, Robert Hubbard. There are also 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Geraldine was predeceased by a daughter, Jan Solum; a sister, Virginia Ross and two brothers, Clifford Hubbard & Donald Hubbard. Philomene left behind her husband: Carl Pumala, daughter, by a first marriage: Patricia (Bosanac) (Ted) Bunjovac; son: Joseph (Paula) Bosanac, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. On Christmas Day, Ilene Weiland of Sun City was called to heaven where she will join her husband, Tod and son, Toby. She leaves behind her childhood sweetheart, Le Roy (French) Authier, a daughter Julie (Bryce) Lambert, grandchildren Caren (Jeff) Bailey, April Weiland, and Bryce Lambert II, great grandchildren Sarah and Steven Bailey, daughter-in-law Susie Weiland, and a sister Fern Vittitow. She had many nieces and nephews. She was born in Miltonvale, Kansas July 19,1924. She was raised in Presho, S.D. Then she and her family moved to the Valley of the Sun in 1952. She was a homemaker who enjoyed interior decorating and playing bridge. Many thanks go to her caregivers Sam and Lucy of All About Seniors & Hospice workers, Stephanie, Jennifer, and Alex. All of them gave her good, loving care. There will be a viewing at the church at 9:00 a.m. prior to the celebration of life which will be held Saturday Jan. 2 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jerome's Catholic Church at 10815 N 35 Ave. Phoenix. He is a retired Master Sergeant, Pearl Harbor survivor, serving 26 years in the U. S. Army. He was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church. He is survived by his loving wife Violanda, son Robert Joseph (wife Patsi) of Glendale, Joseph Ernest (wife Tina) of Glendale, daughter Patricia Marie Powell (husband Michael) of Phoenix, brother Stan of California and sister Betty of Pennsylvania; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Mother Angelina M. Bracamonte, Sisters Mary Armola (husband, Bob), Norma Rivera (husband, Eddie), Martha Martinez (husband, Robert), and Delia Padilla (husband, Paul), Brothers Frank M. Bracamonte JR. (wife, Esther), Alfonso M. Bracamonte, and Gilbert M. Bracamonte, Son-In-Law Augustine David Burgos. Raymond enjoyed spending time with his two grandchildren Jeremias & Arissa, taking long motorcycle rides to Flagstaff and through the mountains, and driving and working on his cars. 69, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on October 10. 2009. Born in Humbolt, AZ, Pete passed at his home. A U.S. Navy veteran, former Yavapai County Deputy Sheriff, former Prescott Police Officer, former United States Marshal for the District of Puerto Rico, Pete retired as the Chief Deputy United States Marshal for the District of Arizona. After a lifetime of service to his country and community, Pete succumbed to cancer. Pete, dubbed "Papa" by his grandchildren, is survived by his three children Robert Salazar Jr., John Salazar & Suzanne Glas, and nine grandchildren (Lenley, Devin, Brittany, Jonathan, Cassandra, Veronica, Ashley, Joseph & Andrew). He is loved and will be missed beyond belief. May he rest in peace. Luis Eduardo Andino, 83 passed away with his family by his side on September 27, 2009. He was born in Ecuador in 1926 and in 1948 he moved to Venezuela. After getting married, he moved in 1960 with his wife and family to the U.S. He lived in Chicago until 1979 when he moved to Arizona. Ourso, Arthur B. Age 72, completed his journey July 19, 2009. He was born in Baton Rouge, LA. Arthur moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1971, where he was employed at APS as a Journeyman Lineman, retiring in 1996. He also proudly served in the U.S.M.C. Arthur was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sybil and E.C. Ourso and a grandson, Michael D. Ourso. Arthur is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Dolores; five children: Bobby (Fran), David (Barbara), Randy (Flora), Linda, and Stephen (Janine); eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a brother, Sonny. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends as well. The viewing will be from 5-9pm, Friday, July 24 at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 N. 59th Ave., Glendale. Chano Bejarano
Chano assed away on July 13, 2009 after a long 21 year battle with Prostate Cancer and Diabetes, and a 7 month battle with bone cancer and severe anemia. He was born in Virden, New Mexico on May 24, 1929. He served in the Military during The Korean War Conflict. He is preceded in death by his wife Juana of 49 years. He is survived by his only daughter and caregiver Corrine Bejarano, sons Jose Alfredo and Chano Jr. Bejarano. Sisters, Lupe Bejarano and Ophelia Rodriguez and brothers Raymond and Tommy Bejarano. He leaves behind his beloved 11 grandchildren and his 11 adorable great-grandchildren. He enjoyed having his family over for Super Bowl Sunday and holiday gatherings. He enjoyed watching the Phoenix Suns, Arizona Diamondbacks, ASU and California Golden Bears. He was a loving and gracious husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Special Thanks to his doctors, Dr. Franks, Dr. Brackman, Dr. Low and their staff. They worked so hard to make him better but in the end his Pacman won. He is finally free of pain and suffering. He will be missed tremendously with lots of Love. Services will be held at Paradise Sunset Chapel, 3934 E. Indian School Rd, Friday, July 17, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Mass will be held at St. Jerome's Catholic Church, 10815 N. 35th Ave at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 18, 2009 and he will be laid to rest at St. Francis Cemetery. Philip James Thompson, 75, passed away July 11, 2009. He was born on April 24, 1934 in Bronx, NY. "Phil" was a retired New York City Police Detective and served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather "Papa" and is survived by his wife of 49 years, Theresa, five children; Theresa, Eileen, Patty, Philip, John and six grandchildren; Alisha, Cindy, Troy, Philip, Matthew, Chase and his two sisters Mary and Terri. Phil was an avid golfer and outdoorsman who loved the deserts and mountains of Arizona where he has resided with his family since 1981. While in Phil's presence you were sure to hear a great story. 89 of Phoenix, AZ, passed away peacefully July 6, 2009. Her last days were spent surrounded by her loving family. Lenora was born to Theodore and Elizabeth Schroeder on April 7, 1920 in St. Bernard, NE. Norie married her husband of 68 years, Alvin on February 8, 1941 in Rock Island, IL and they had three children. In May 1956 they moved to AZ where she spent the next 53 years as a loving homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Lenora loved to play bingo, visit casinos, and spend time with her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her great grandchildren, passing down family recipes and stories. Lenora will be deeply missed by all. She leaves behind her husband of 68 years Alvin; her sons, Ken and his wife Stella of Colorado Springs, Bob and his wife Mary of Tucson, her daughter, Judy Johnson of Phoenix; grandchildren, Michelle, Melissa, Sheila, Elizabeth, Cindy, Jennifer, Jon and Laurel; great grandchildren, Amanda, Jared, Jacob, and Maximilian; brothers, Walter, Elmer, Alvin; sisters, Ester, Eileen and Lucille. Ewer, Vernon Arthur 69 of Glendale, Arizona passed away on June 30, 2009. Born in Bird Island, MN, to Marjorie Forcier Ewer and Claude Ewer, he moved to AZ 43 years ago. Vern worked in the aerospace industry for Sperry and Honeywell for over 40 years. He will always be loved and dearly missed by his loving wife Suzanne, son Mark Ewer of Glendale, daughter Bridget Ewer (Jeremy Smoll) of Wittmann, step daughters Sarah Piepel (Andrew) of Hudson, WI and Pamela Kinder (Keith) of Phoenix; grandchildren, Brennen and Keagan Ewer, Nathan Smoll, Lauren and Claire Piepel; sisters Virginia Draheim and Dorothy Engelman of MN; brothers Eugene and Robert (Marlene) Ewer of MN and Leon (Muriel), Walter and Oliver Ewer of Tucson and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Leona Serbus Ewer, infant son, John and by his brother, Loren Ewer. Vern was a gentle, loving man. His grandchildren were the light of his life. He delighted in spending time with them and in return, they received all the patience and love in the world. Vern taught us to accept people as they are. He worked tirelessly in his support of Special Olympics. He loved volunteering at the annual Fred Rathbun Horse Show for people with disabilities. He served on the Adaptive Recreation Advisory Committee for the City of Glendale. Vern was a devout Catholic who loved the celebration of the Mass. Visitation will be Sunday, July 5, 2009 from 3 - 8 pm at the Community Church of Joy, 21000 N 75th Ave. There will be a Rosary service at 5:00 pm. Father John Long, O.Carm. passed away late on the morning of August 26th, 2008. Father Long was born in Saint Louis, Missouri on November 20, 1927. He was ordained a priest on September 27, 1986 for the Order of Carmelites. He came to the Diocese of Phoenix in 1991 and was very involved with the Kino Institute as an instructor and director until he retired in 1998. Father Long assisted at Saint Agnes Parish and St. Jerome parish in Phoenix. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
