House Meetings

History:
VIP (Valley Interfaith Project) has facilitated House Meetings in Santa Teresita parish. This resulted in parish community action resulting in having a school in their community and not an hour long bus ride away.

VIP worked with Most Holy Trinity  parish to improve leadership skills and working relationships so as to facilitate community growth and improvement.

Many other examples exist of VIP working with congregations to develop effective and organized leadership to solve community problems.

Need: Our Catholic faith calls us to build up our St. Jerome Church Community by knowing each other and listening to each other. We have diversity of culture, language and backgrounds in our community.  By meeting together and listenting to each other and training leaders to help us address issues and problems, we can unite our parish and improve the lives of all the people in our parish.

Purpose: To conduct House Meetings to explore how Valley Interfaith Project can help us to develop closer faith based relationships and to take concerted community action consistent with our faith and Catholic Social Teaching.

Initial House Meeting held 6/7/08: During the 6/7/08 meeting participants were informed of the State Budget Cuts Hearing scheduled for Tuesday June 17, 6:30pm at Emmaus Lutheran Church at 39th Ave & Sweetwater in the Parish Hall. All are welcome. They want "stories" of people that would be affected by severe cuts.
